Dr. J K Periasamy, popularly known as Dr. JKP, is a well-known Cardiologist in Coimbatore, with extensive experience in Interventional Cardiology, having been in practice since the year 1980. He is the Founder and Chairman of Dr. JKP Medical Centre in Coimbatore, which offers guidance in lifestyle changes and rehabilitation to patients with major cardiac problems.

Dr. J K Periasamy was one of the first Cardiologists in Coimbatore to popularise ICCU Care, bedside Pacemaker insertion, Echo and Treadmill Stress Tests. He has performed more than 20,000 Angiograms and Angioplasties, Stenting and Balloon Valvuloplasties. His major interest is Preventive Cardiology.  

In 1999 Dr. Periasamy started the Healthy Heart Programme to educate the masses on prevention of heart diseases. He has organised medical camps and awareness programmes at several towns in Tamil Nadu, such as Karur, Erode, Pollachi, Salem, Ooty, Namakkal, etc. He has staged World Heart Day Rallies at Coimbatore, Ooty and other towns. Dr. Periasamy started the Healthy Hearts Club in 2002, with a charter modelled on the programmes of Dr. Dean Ornish of the USA.
